#MexicoEarthquake: How #Scouts can help

The aftermath of the earthquake in central Mexico yesterday reveals a grim scene. More than 200 have perished, including 21 children and four adults who died when a private school collapsed. Mexican President, Enrique Peña Nieto have declared three days of national mourning to honour the victims.
Across the cities, at least 40 buildings have crumbled and numerous others badly damaged. Patients are being evacuated from damaged hospitals amid fears of aftershocks, and rescue operations to save survivors trapped among the rubble are now in full swing.
Yet despite the devastation and loss, hope persists, especially among the Scouts of Mexico. Since day one, these active citizens have not hesitated in extending a helping hand, ever prepared to serve those in need by every possible means, although affected by the catastrophe themselves.

Yesterday, we shared how they have been actively supporting relief efforts – helping in rescue operations, emergency services and traffic control, delivering food and medical supplies to the affected communities and volunteers, providing shelter to the displaced, and so much more.
These efforts will take time and a significant amount of resources is needed to help them to continue their service to the affected communities.
It’s been said that no act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted. Today, in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Scouting, we appeal to your kindness and generosity. In fact, many Scout groups around the world have already taken action to show their support. Here are some ways you too can help:
- contribute to the relief efforts of the Scouts of Mexico by donating to their project on the Scout Donation Platform
- organise a local fundraiser and channel the funds to the Scouts of Mexico's project on the Scout Donation Platform
- help us to promote the Scouts of Mexico's project and raise more funds by liking and sharing this post. By spread this to your family and friends, we can raise even more funds to support our brothers and sisters in Mexico
