A reference book on World Scouting

“World Scouting: Educating for Global Citizenship”, a reference book for a better understanding of our Movement

What is the magic in Scouting that has attracted millions of young people all over the world for decades and decades, to share values, living experiences, and to commit to the betterment of society? This is what the book World Scouting: Educating for Global Citizenship deals with. Whereas Scouting is about doing, and not about studying, the author has summarized in this work years of in-depth research on the history, fundamentals, structure, values, and practices of Scouting, and wrote it in an exciting style that will keep you reading till the end.

The book is now available in an affordable paperback edition, and will be presented at the Institute for Public Knowledge of New York University on September 23, 2013. Dr. Eduard Vallory, the author, is a Visiting Scholar at NYU, and an active member of the world Scout brotherhood: previously as International Commissioner of the Federació Catalana d’Escoltisme i Guiatge and now as member of WOSM’s 21st Century Leadership Working Group. He will also be one of the keynote speakers at the 1st World Scout Education Congress. Dr. Vallory has been Director of the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics and Research Fellow of Fitzwilliam College at the University of Cambridge.

The former Director of UNESCO, Federico Mayor Zaragoza, has said that the book “unveils how Scouting values of peace, tolerance, and solidarity shape responsible individuals into global citizens with critical thinking skills and a commitment to human rights”.
