World Scouting Welcomes The Scout Association of Macau

The Scout Association of Macau (TSAM) was established in December 1983 with 200 members. The principles and methods of the Association are based on the legacy of Lord Baden-Powell, to inspire and guide the physical, mental and spiritual development of young people.

Since its establishment, the Association has been receiving full support from the government and from all social strata. A stable growth is maintained both in financial and human resources. In 2013, membership reached more than 2,400 members in three sections: Cub Scouts, Scouts and Venture Scouts.

Scouts in Macau are well known for their good turn, rendering community and charity services, such as the Charity Walk for Millions, the Green Day, the East Asian Games, just to name a few.

In recognition of the contribution of Scouts to their communities, The Scout Association of Macau was awarded by the former Governor of Macau and the Ex- Chief Executive of the Special Administrative Region of Macau the “Outstanding Youth Organization Award” and the “Medal of Philanthropic Merit” in 1998 and 2001 respectively. TSAM is recognised by the government as their partner in nation building through youth development and training.

Being a youth organisation in its early 30s, the Association has reached a level of maturity and efficiency to host international events in Macau. In coordination with the World Scout Bureau/Asia-Pacific Regional Office, TSAM created its national strategic plan in Macau in 2004. It did not take long and Macau has been hosting several training courses and major international meetings.
The Scout Association and continues its solidarity with local and international communities.
