Scouts and their leaders paid their respects to Col. Prof. Dato' Dr. Hj. Kamarudin bin Hj. Kachar, Chief Scout Commissioner of Persekutuan Pengakap Malaysia (PPM) from 2005-2008, who passed away on 20th December 2016. He was 83.

Kamarudin also served as Director General of the National Civics Bureau and the former Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Selangor.

His significant contribution to Scouting in Malaysia and in the Asia-Pacific Region will be remembered by many.

He is survived by his wife, Datin Seri Che Tom Osman, and four children.
