Palestinian Scouts Support Civilians Amid Tragic Humanitarian Crisis
In the heart of war-torn Gaza, Palestinian Scouts are braving unimaginable risks to offer hope and vital aid to hundreds of children and families displaced by the ongoing war.
Over 100 dedicated Scouts are volunteering through an initiative launched to aid civilians caught in the middle of the deadly war. From transporting the wounded to hospitals, to providing crucial first aid, and mobilising for blood donation drives, the young volunteers are on the front lines helping those most in need.
Under the initiative, and in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Palestine and UN Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA), Scout and Guide Leaders are also supporting the mental health and well-being of over 1,300 children and young people at shelters in Khan Younis, a city in southern Gaza. Tailored activities include art, games and storytelling to bring temporary relief to displaced families, offering fun, comfort and a way to process experiences during these turbulent times.
The initiative is just one of the many extensive humanitarian efforts being undertaken with the support of Scouts in 20 UNRWA-operated shelters across Gaza. These efforts, coordinated by the Palestinian Scouts and involving multiple partners, including the Youth Share Forum, Medical Relief Foundation and UNFPA, all strive to alleviate the extreme hardships being faced by civilians in Gaza.
