From October 16 to 20, over 60 participants from 28 European countries gathered in Greece for the 2nd European Sustainability Forum. The event provided a platform for staff and volunteers from National Scout Organizations (NSOs) and National Scout Associations (NSAs) working on sustainable development to connect, share challenges, and exchange best practices.

The forum showcased numerous sustainability initiatives and programmes implemented across Europe on local, national, and regional levels. It highlighted creative solutions to tackle pressing environmental issues and brought attention to Scouts' crucial role in driving change towards a more sustainable future.

"By coming together, we are strengthening the network of Scouts committed to sustainability. These exchanges are vital in inspiring new actions and enhancing the capacity of our organisations to address global challenges," said Jérémy Apert, European Scout Committee member.

The programme, which blended educational and operational approaches, addressed topics such as climate anxiety, calculating carbon footprints, and integrating sustainability into large-scale events. It also featured practical activities, including creating bee wax wraps, making soap from used oil, and raising awareness of the presence of litter at the beach.

One of the key outcomes of the forum was the reactivation of a regional network of sustainability-focused Scouts. This network will enable participants to continue sharing challenges, concerns, and successful initiatives, thus amplifying the impact of their work across the region.

The 2nd European Sustainability Forum was held as the closing conference of the Earth Tribe project, which aims to transform youth organisations into leaders in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The project empowers young Europeans to become active citizens driving positive change in their communities and is supported by the Erasmus+ programme.
