World Scouting receives international recognition for its environmental impact in Interamerica
The Scout Movement has made its mark on the "Mentes en Verde" initiative, a competition organised by the Interamerican Development Bank (BID) in collaboration with Socialab, which aims to recognise innovative programmes that promote green citizenship in Latin America and the Caribbean. Among the more than 270 proposals submitted from 18 countries, Scouts in Interamerica were recognised as winners in the Extracurricular Programmes category with the EarthTribe initiative.

EarthTribe is more than an educational programme: it is a call to action for young people of all ages who seek to generate a positive impact on their environment. Through practical challenges focused on climate crisis, biodiversity, and pollution, participants develop key skills such as critical thinking, leadership, and teamwork, while implementing projects that have real impact in their communities.
With a presence throughout the Americas, EarthTribe has engaged more than 350,000 young people in countries such as Argentina, Guatemala, Brazil, and Mexico, driving tangible transformations in communities and reinforcing commitments to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

EarthTribe’s recognition in "Mentes en Verde" reaffirms the role of Scouting as a key player in environmental education and sustainable development. Since its foundation, the Scout Movement has championed values of respect for nature and community action, and this initiative is a clear example of how young Scouts can lead change towards a more sustainable future.
This achievement not only celebrates the work of Scouts but also inspires other Scouts across the world to continue promoting initiatives that drive environmental and social impact. The Scout Movement, through Scouts for SDGs, will continue strengthening its efforts to develop responsible citizens committed to protecting the planet and their communities.
