From Vision to Reality: Bolivia Scouts in Renewable Energy Education
In a groundbreaking initiative to promote renewable energy education and contribute to the efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the Asociación de Scouts de Bolivia has successfully established the Center for Education in Renewable Energies (REEC) at the "Germán Rocha Maldonado" Scout Camp in Arani, Cochabamba. This project, which aims to provide both Scouts and potential Scouts with comprehensive knowledge about the significance of renewable energy, was made possible through a crowdfunding campaign on the Scout Donation Platform.
- Implementation of Renewable Energies in the School Field: The project team installed various renewable energy systems, including solar water pumps, solar panels, wind generators, and a solar water heater, showcasing their effectiveness in reducing electricity consumption.
- National Scout workshops: Annual workshops were designed and implemented with representatives from all districts, enabling the consolidation of knowledge and empowering participants to conduct similar workshops in their respective districts.
- Workshops to Educational Units: Leveraging the experiences gained from the initial workshops, interactive and didactic courses were designed and offered to Scout groups, units, and schools, promoting hands-on learning about renewable energies at the REEC.
Speaking about the success of the project, the team expressed gratitude to the global community of donors who supported the endeavor through the Scout Donation Platform.
The project impacted over 900 people, and also laid the groundwork for a sustainable future by fostering understanding and appreciation of renewable energies among Bolivian youth and the wider community.
