The Scouts of Armenian Armavir Region commissioned a newly built youth centre that will serve as a unification and empowerment space for young people in the region. The centre will undoubtedly make a significant contribution to the strengthening of Scouting and youth development in the region. The centre is expected to be a real home for the upbringing of the region's younger generations.

“We have a great dream to see a national generation dedicated to the country, our state, our national values and ideas. This centre will be nothing if we do not use it to bring up a worthy generation of young people in Armavir, who will take part in the construction of our state and our country with their activities, their lives and their strength, ” said David Hagopian, a member of the Homenetmen-HASK Central Committee that runs the centre.

The centre bears great hopes for young people and peace for the region. This was exemplified when Rev. Tachat Injikulian, Pastor of Narek Church, released two white doves into the sky as a symbol of peace and success. All those present at the commissioning expressed hope that it would be a facilitator in the upbringing of youth in the Armavir region.

To commemorate this milestone, the centre in Yerevan was quickly transformed into a beehive of activities, where the Scouts and their guests were united in running a charity event. They reached out to people in the local community who in these difficult days of the spread of the Coronavirus, were under lockdown in their homes and needed help.

The Scouts and their leaders, packed and distributed 400 boxes of food to the needy families. This was part of a larger effort by the Scouts of Homenetmen-HASK in various regions across Armenia, who collectively distributed 800 food boxes to 400 needy families.

"We could not help but notice the need to continue the charitable work of helping the needy people in our communities even during these tough times. What better way to commemorate the launch of our youth centre than by helping those in need? Our goal is to raise healthy generations of youth so that they can be useful to their nation and homeland,” said Sandra Vardanian, Chair of the Homenetmen-HASK Central Committee.

The Armavir Regional Center of Homenetmen-HASK whose construction was generously supported by the Emil Maghagian family stands as a great milestone for the Scouts who dreamt of owning a centre since 1992.

Since the outbreak of Covid-19, Scouts around the world have been responding to the needs of their communities on an individual and group level from awareness-raising to deliveries of essential items. World Scouting set up a Covid-19 Emergency Response Fund, where you can donate to help Scouts continue supporting their communities in need. All funds will be channelled directly to support National Scout Organizations.
