Press Release: The Scout Movement Set to Mark Africa Scout Day in Accra, Ghana

This year’s All Africa Scout Day celebrations will be held between 9 - 13 March 2016 in Ghana; hosted by the Ghana Scouts Association.

The event will bring together Scouts, aged 14 years and above, from different countries in Africa and beyond for a 3-day camp; during which they will undertake numerous learning and community service activities. The theme for the event is “Empowering Scouts for the Development of Africa”.

Events The activities scheduled to take place include:, an International Youth Camp and Community Action Challenge at the Dzorwulu Special School, Abelenkpe in Accra;, unveiling of the bust of the late Isaac Newton Addy;, an African Scout Foundation Dinner and the Africa Scouts Day celebration.

Among the key guest expected to grace the occasion are; H. E. John Dramani Mahama – President of the Republic of Ghana, H. E. Flt. Lt Jerry John Rawlings – Former President of the Republic of Ghana, Ministers of State, Traditional Authorities, Members of Parliament, Diplomatic Corps, Chairman and Vice Chairman of the World Scout Committee, of the Secretary General of the World Organization of the Scout Movement, Chairman and Members of the Africa Scout Committee, the Regional Director and Staff of the World Scout Bureau – Africa Regional Support OfficeCentre, Staff of the World Scout Bureau, Chief Commissioners and Executive Commissioners of different National Scout Organizations in Africa, Partners of the Scouting Movement, among others.

Those who may not be able to take part in the celebrations in Ghana can join in the national or local celebrations organizaed by their respective National Scout Organizations and Scout groups.
