An active Scout and Venture Scout in the Korea Scout Association, Dr. Rhee earned the Tiger Scout award—the organizations highest rank—in 1972. He has served the KSA in many roles, including International Commissioner and representative to various APR subcommittees. He was a member of the World Scout Committee (WSC) in the last triennium, and was elected Chairperson of the WSC at the 39th World Scout Conference. Trained in construction management, International Scouter Simon Rhee excels in building bridges between people of different cultures by identifying common bonds among diverse communities.

The Silver World Award is recognition of outstanding service to youth on an international level. It can only be presented to a citizen of any country whose Scout association is a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement. Former recipients include Olave, Lady Baden-Powell; Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir; Japanese Emperor Hirohito; King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden; and Pope John Paul II.

Congratulations to Simon for a well deserved award!
