Resources and activities which can be used for national centenaries and moments of celebration.

 

In the early years of Scouting's second century, other centenary celebrations will take place as National Scout Organizations celebrate their centenaries. These milestones provide excellent opportunities to support national strategies and promote growth and development in Scouting. We need vibrant quality programmes to meet the needs of more young people, we need to recruit and retain dedicated adult volunteers and we need to constantly improve our communications in order to raise our profile and encourage more people to get involved!

 

Centenary of Scouting Overview

This contains:

  • A view of the long-term project to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Scouting
  • Information and photos of a large number of the fantastic progammes and initiatives that took place during 2007
  • A resource on 'building on the success and learning from the projects', which offers a critique of some of the experiences in order to assist National Scout Organizations plan for their own national centenaries and future celebrations and maximise opportunities.
 

The Gifts for Peace report contains truly inspirational projects from over 110 National Scout Organizations, as well as beautiful photos of many of the projects. This document illustrates the capacity of Scouting to really make an impact in communities worldwide and shares the work accomplished by millions of young people.
