It is the branch of the World Scout Bureau for the Interamerican Region and is composed by a set of professionals who work full-time under the leadership of the Regional Director, who is appointed by the Secretary General of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in agreement with the Interamerican Scout Committee.

Scouting is a movement of volunteers, including the young people and the adults who give generously of their time to work with young people, and those who lead, manage, and support the Movement in so many ways.

Route to Excellence is a system for promoting and facilitating evaluation and planning in National Scout Organizations, based on a set of development indicators that have been extensively analysed by the IDN and were formally approved by the Interamerican Scout Conference held in Quito, Ecuador, in November 2007.
