Interamerican Scout Office

It is the branch of the World Scout Bureau for the Interamerican Region and is composed by a set of professionals who work full-time under the leadership of the Regional Director, who is appointed by the Secretary General of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in agreement with the Interamerican Scout Committee.

The Office has among its functions:

• Serve as Secretariat of the World Organization in matters related to the Region and as Secretariat of the Inter-American Scout Organization.
• Draw up the Regional Plan and coordinate and implement the measures provided for in it.
• Advice and provide technical assistance to the Scout Organizations in the Region.
• Lead and organize regional and subregional events.
• Identify and train leaders at regional and national level.
• Contribute to the fund-raising for the financing of regional actions.
• Relate the Inter-American Scout Organization with other, public and private, regional organizations, linked to the objectives and actions of the Scout Movement.

 

The ISO has had headquarters in:

• La Habana, Cuba, from 1946 until 1960
• Kingston, Jamaica, 1960
• México D.F., Mexico, from 1960 until 1968
• San José, Costa Rica, from 1968 until 1992 (under headquarter until 1998)
• Santiago, Chile, from 1992 until 2011
• Panamá City, Panamá from May 2010 until date.
