6 - Examples of Projects

In this section you will find 9 examples of possible peace projects.

There is one example for each age section in each of the three areas. These examples contain activities and links to ongoing projects that deal with these themes.

Every example project follows the 4 step process of:
1. Identifying the problems
2. Developing awareness and empathy
3. Taking action
4. Measuring the change

Education for a greater understanding of social issues can help young people to grow up with greater tolerance and respect for others, but all care should be taken to see that this is done in an informed way and with attention to cultural sensitivities.

***Please note that this section contains information on a number of sensitive social issues that occur in society and are faced by young people every day. Scouting worldwide tackles these issues, for example, child labour in El Salvador and Egypt, street children in Kenya, conflict and war in the Great Lakes region of Africa, HIV and AIDS in many African Scout Organizations. Before dealing with an issue you should ensure that you are well informed and that all discussions and activities are appropriate to your Scouts, their age, situation, beliefs and culture.
