Baden-Powell honoured at the World Bureau
Geneva, February 20th 2009 – The members of the World Scout Bureau working in Geneva gathered this afternoon with Luc Panissod, Acting Secretary General, for a celebration of Founder's Day, two days early. A way for them to take a break, at the end of the week, inspired by the memory of he who said “First I had an idea. Then I saw an ideal. Now we have a Movement, and if some of you don't watch out we shall end up with just an organization”.
The Scout staff renewed their Promise and shared the reading of the articles of the Scout law with their non-Scout colleagues, which, like a code of conduct, must inspire the way to serve the Movement and the young people around the world.
Millions of Scouts and Guides around the world celebrate the memory of Baden-Powell each year on the anniversary of his birthday, 22nd February.
