The Italian Scout Association CNGEI, in collaboration with the publishing house Lizard of Rome, has published a comic book based on the life of Robert Baden Powell, the founder of Scouting. The series, titled "Impeesa", has been realised by Ivo Milazzo, one of the greatest comic strip authors of the world (he created the western character Ken Parker). And the storyboard has been written by Paolo Fizzarotti, the editor of the CNGEI magazine "Adulti nello Scautismo" and "Scautismo".
Geneva, Switzerland – On Wednesday 4th of July, World Scouting presented to the ECOSOC (Economic and Social Council) High Level segment of the United Nations, a statement on behalf of the youth committee of the Conference of non-governmental organisations in Geneva (CONGO).
With 12 National Scout Organizations represented by 42 Scout leaders, the Scout Association of Thailand efficiently hosted the first Regional Scouts of the World Award seminar. The seminar was held from the 28th May to the 31st May 2007 in the National Training Centre of the National Scout Organization of Thailand –Vajiravudh Scout Camp.
At the half way mark of 2007, Scouts and Guides around the world have already pledged to plant 2,393,685 trees through the UNEP Billion Trees campaign. Scouts have been very active in planting trees to help to provide habitat for wildlife, improve the environment of their local communities, enhance water quality and to store carbon to reduce the effects of climate change.
Geneva – June 5, 2007 – Today, on World Environment Day, Alcoa Foundation and the World Organization for the Scout Movement announced a joint program promoting sustainability awareness through a worldwide environmental educational Scout program. The program will be initially rolled out in five European countries and will be funded by a two-year $205,000 grant from Alcoa Foundation. Key components of this project will be featured at the 21st World Scout Jamboree scheduled to take place in the UK from July 27 to August 8, 2007.
After more than one year of work, the “Action for Growth” report was launched at the European Scout Conference two weeks ago in Slovenia.

Baden-Powell said of Jacques Sevin: "He made the best realisation of my own thoughts". Co-founder of 'Scouts de France', the Jesuit priest Jacques Sevin shared the same sense of humour, the artistic gift of song, drawing and theatrical animation with the founder of the Scout Movement.
Tobacco use poses serious health risks, not only to smokers, but also to non-smokers in smoking environments. Tobacco is the second major cause of death in the world and hundreds of thousands of non-smokers die each year from the harmful effects of second-hand smoke. The dangers associated with exposure to second-hand smoke requires the protection of people's right to clean, smoke-free air.
In view of the common commitment to defending and promoting the rights of children and young people, the partnership between the International Labour Organization (ILO) and World Scouting has continued to grow. An increasing number of joint initiatives between Scouts Organizations and ILO Field and Branch Offices are being developed at the local level, in particular in the framework of the SCREAM – Supporting Children’s Rights through Education, the Arts and the Media – programme ( www.ilo.org/scream).
The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) last year launched what is now an annual event a way to help achieve the first United Nations Millennium Development goal: to reduce by half the number of hungry people in the world by 2015. This exciting and important initiative is called Fight Hunger: Walk the World and all Scouts are encouraged to take part in this Sunday's events.
