On the occasion of the opening Ceremony of the Regional Communication Forum - Arab Region, The Scout Brand and the World Scouting Report were launched in the Arab countries, with a large attendance of journalists, media & TV channels. Key National Scout Executives in charge of Communication, representing all countries, were present too.

 

Geneva, Friday 8 December 2006 - The World Scout Committee has named a new Chairman of the Governance Review Task Force and carried out the first evaluation of the Secretary General.

 

Rome, 24th November 2006. Dr. Eduardo Missoni, Secretary General of the World Organization of the Scout Movement, was in Rome last week to meet with Ms. Giovanna Melandri, Italy’s Minister of Youth Policy and Sport, and Mr. Luca Bergamo, Director General of the Glocal Forum. During the meeting, Dr. Missoni and Mr. Bergamo presented the Glocal Youth Gathering 2008, a joint venture being developed as a new partnership between World Scouting and the Glocal Forum.

 

The Macau forum leads a series of regional communication forums to be held in the regions - Africa, Arab, Europe/Eurasia, and Inter-America starting in November until February 2007. Named as the “first stop…” of the series, it was held on 24-26 November 2006 at the Fortaleza de Taipa in Macau having 34 participants from 19 National Scout Organisations.

Friday 1st December is World AIDS Day. This annual event was created to focus global awareness on the pandemic and generate positive action to stop the spread of HIV and eradicate AIDS.

 

Secretary General Dr. Eduardo Missoni has appointed Ms Anne Whiteford, from United Kingdom, as Executive Director of the Education, Research and Development Department of World Scout Bureau, Central Office (WSBCO).

 

During the days 14, 15 and 16 of October, in Unquillo, Córdoba; the Camp was developed for denominated Rovers EcoMoot 2006 - “Getting dirty, playing cleanly”. This was an initiative of the Scout Group “Tinku Huairaspa" that counted with the support of the Area 22 – Scouts of Argentina.

 

Philippe Pijollet passed away on Friday 17 November 2006. The former Director of Adult Resources at the World Scout Bureau, which he joined in 1974, Philippe was a brilliant pioneer in the field of human resources management, continuing the tradition of innovation in Scouting.

 

Geneva, November 20th marks Universal Children's Day- a day to be observed as a day of worldwide fraternity and understanding between children.
