Boy Scouts of the Philippines tree planting campaign kicks off

As their own contribution of saving the environment, Boy scout of the Philippines (BSP) launched a massive tree planting project in partnership with local government and private organizations.

Although the project “Go Green! Go for the Real Thing” appeared as another tree planting project, it has a unique feature as it involves Scouts not just in tree planting planting but in nurturing as well. At the launch, more than a hundred Scouts called “Green Patrols,” demonstrated the proper planting process from seed propagation to actual planting of seedlings. Another feature of the project is that BSP will produce its own seedlings and saplings from the nurseries that will be constructed in BSP selected camps.

Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Committee Chairman and BSP National President Jejomar C Binay believed that the project will be totally different from all other tree planting projects as it will be supervised and maintained by Scouts for a period of time to ensure that the trees will grow.
As a reward for Scouts who will complete the work, they will be given a merit badge created by BSP only for this project.
