1st Jan 2009

The 6th European Forum for Youth Programme and Adult Resources was held at Campo Aventura, near Óbidos, Portugal, from March 18th – 22nd. The event brought together 66 participants from 20 countries. In total, there were 26 European NSOs represented at the event.

The theme of the Forum was ‘Impact’ and the focus was on assisting National Scout

Associations in improving and developing their Youth Programme and Adult Resources, thus increasing the impact of work done on a national level. The participants shared their own knowledge and experiences and worked together to further enhance the methods and tools used in their own associations.

The event was a series of training sessions, workshops and Cooperativas. For the Cooperativas, small groups were formed to explore related topics and develop useful tools that can be used by associations. Some of the Cooperativa topics were: Maximising the impact of the Scout Method, Cooperation between generations, Implementing a new programme at local level and Coaching. The groups will continue to work on the Cooperativas after the event.

The event also include some team building exercises, an outdoor barbeque and an evening visit to the medieval town of Óbidos to experience some traditional Fado traditional singing and their famous chocolate festival.

Throughout the event the participants gained an insight into better practices and learned how other associations work, as well as making new friends and contacts from around Europe.
