Succor!

28th Aug 2013

Just this month, a severe tropical storm named Maring nearly transformed Metro Manila into Italian city Venice, by its unforgiving downpour around-the-clock. Dozens of victims were claimed lives. Hundreds of countrymen injured. Thousands of families lost homes. They called for help, and fortunately, numerous answered.
Accomplishing their duty to help other people at all times, 165 scouts of Chiang Kai Shek College submitted themselves for the typhoon victims. Boys and girls as young as 10 years proved that they’re not unworthy as they took a step forward to assist. Neglecting the pounding rain, they tried their best to lend their hands for the sake of others.
On the first day of relief packing operations, 32 CKSC scouts headed to Department of Social Welfare and Development - National Resources Operations Center (DSWD-NROC) in Pasay City. The next day, forty went to Caritas Manila in Pandacan, Manila, packing more relief goods. The day after, half a hundred volunteered United Evangelical Church of the Philippines (UECP) in Tondo, Manila, repeating the same task. Finally, on the following day, 43 finished the 4-day mission in Operation Blessing Foundation Philippines in Pasig City.
Lending a hand for our unfortunate countrymen is indeed a memorable and meaningful experience. I sincerely salute to these selfless scouts, as they really made use of their idle time.
