The Service Project of tribe S07 was a joint effort with Metsähallitus, which is a government institution that provides natural resources sector services to a diverse customer base, from private individuals to major companies.
The agreement was that we would take care of cleaning the community beach at Evo, which is located roughly 2 kilometers from the campsite used by the Guides and Scouts of Finland. The cleanup was done on the 24th of July 2012. Approximately 80 scouts and guides, aged 16 to 22 were involved.
Metsähallitus instructed us to remove all the excess small trees, plants and grass from the beach and from the shallow water. We removed the plants – Metsähallitus transported the removed vegetation to their composting facility.
The ones who were involved understood the importance of the job. Although some argued that what is the point of removing the vegetation when after all it is just going to grow back. Anyway – the results were good. The residents of the local community got a good beach to spend summer days.
The job was were physical, hard and dirty. But it was rewarding to see that we actually concrete results.
