Re Rovering re-exploring, re-inventing, rediscovering Scouting

25th Jul 2012

In the period in between 12 and 17 July 2012, Moldova Scouting got to be shaken by an inspiring project Re Rovering – created by 4 friends in Scouting who believed in an idea. Re Rovering appeared as a reaction to the stagnation that exists among rovers, situation present in Moldova, but as study cases show- stagnation exists in this Scout branch all around the world.

Re Rovering gathered 20 selected rovers from all around the country and challenged them through a lot of methods from Moldova scouting, and from scouting learned in different countries around the world.

First, the rovers had to present the first day their homework which had to answer 3 simple questions: what is a Rover? what expectations I have? what is my role in the organization? All other days involved workshops and meeting on the following themes: Scouting Skills, Leadership and Communication. Innovative was the fact that the participants got challenged by trainers from and outside Scouting. Besides permanent training on this themes, every morning rovers were waken up body and soul through a meditation. Friday the 13th, everyone played the Witch Night game- a great team builder. The last day offered rovers the chance to design their own idea, put them on paper, and create future possible events. A “scout like” was put beside every event each of them liked and 3 of them were voted as they will be the organizers, and not only the participants. We proudly acknowledge formation of the future organizing team for Re Rovering 2013. The objectives of ReRovering were met: the core team of rovers for NSA Moldova got consolidated, quality training on leadership and communication got provided, an event with impact got created.

So, proudly, a project wrote by 4 friends, got approved and sustained by NSA Moldova in close partnership with Boy Scouts of America. WE DID IT.
