The Forum of Innovations, 2-7 July 2010, Ukraine

1st Jan 2010

A while ago, to our great honor and pleasure, we had participated at the 1st Forum of Innovations from Ukraine, which set as a purpose the Promotion of volunteering in the CSI states through scout methods, which for over a century brings its contribution for the education and moral development of the young generation. Even though our activities were held under rain from the first day, the scout spirit never left us and we moved forward with an even bigger will and motivation to new means to create a better world.

First day in Kiev was fully dedicated to accommodation and the integration in an unique group, which was supposed to be the generator for ideas in the days that followed. The main activities were held on the territory of the „Витоки” camp, an extremely great place. First official hours of the Forum have been dedicated to our relations with the past under the motto „ Children of the war”, next days had passed very efficiently for each single country.
The very „idea of innovation”in the domain of volunteering had been described in 2 seminars, where through concrete examples and interactive games we finally got to the steps and means of creation an attractive system in the promotion of volunteering among young people from today. After the theoretical part we moved directly to the implementation of these ideas through extremely contemporary and exciting methods, but which require enormous financial/technical resources and experts in the field.

Divided into 6 groups we tried to create 6 „ finished products” which will serve as magnets for those young people interested in volunteering and scouting. To our great wonder, this purpose has been accopmplished in 2 days and each delegation returned home with 6 perfect and innovational examples, which are able to capture any person’s attention. „Finished products” are created as mini-movies with different characters: film of one scenery, 2 fotographical movies, interview, sound system of an anime piece and the creation of a cartoon. Each movie has its own original story and a single meaning- attraction of young people into volunteer and scout activities, which are actually very inter-linked between them.

Our Scout Association can fully assimilate the techniques of creation of the advertisement products, being fully convinced that they will have a great success in Moldova and will be able to raise the level of involvement of young people in volunteer scout actions. Each of us had the possibility to follow the genesis of a new way of attracting active young people in the organizations that work in the interest of the society. The only problem would be the financial and technical resources, but certainly with our scout ingenuity we will surpass any obstacle because scouting, volunteering and the society creates the invincible symbiosis, a fact which was fully proved in the days we spent in Ukraine.

On behalf of the Moldova delegation,
Mihaela Starish, rover scout
