HRH Prince Guillaume of Luxembourg awarded Bronze Wolf for exceptional service to Scouting

HRH Prince Guillaume of Luxembourg has been awarded the Bronze Wolf, World Scouting’s highest honour, in recognition of his extraordinary commitment and invaluable contributions to the Scout Movement.

Since 2017, Prince Guillaume, a Baden-Powell Fellow, has served as a Board Member of the World Scout Foundation. He was appointed as the Foundation’s Chairperson between September 2021 and October 2023, where he steered the institution through a significant period of change, including the development and adoption of a new strategy to boost funding for World Scouting. He has spearheaded efforts to increase institutional and individual fundraising and has leveraged committee coordination work, initiatives, and events to champion the missions of both the Foundation and the World Organization of the Scout Movement for greater youth-led change, peace, and sustainable development.

Encouraged by his grandfather and his father to discover and protect nature, Prince Guillaume has been a Scout since he was a child, joining the Movement as a Cub Scout aged eight. Early on, he participated in a humanitarian camp in Nepal where he worked on projects supporting reforestation and assisting disadvantaged communities, leaving him with unforgettable memories.

Prince Guillaume has also been an active proponent of Scouting on the national stage, having served as Chief Scout of Scouting in Luxembourg since October 2019 - a role that provides a vital link between the two national associations that make up Scouting in Luxembourg.

A prominent supporter of national and local Scout initiatives and events in Luxembourg, he has bolstered the image of Scouting and its actions in Luxembourg, not least during the COVID-19 pandemic where he supported Scout community outreach, including the delivery of essential items to isolated individuals. As a notable public figure, his Scouting engagements showcase the Movement’s ability to inspire and act as a positive role model to young people and society both in Luxembourg and across the world.

Through his extraordinary dedication and leadership, Prince Guillaume continues to make an indelible mark on the Scout Movement, making him a deserving recipient of the Bronze Wolf Award.
