Participants from the European Youth Agora are gearing up to embark on an extraordinary journey to the Kandersteg International Scout Centre (KISC), situated in the picturesque Swiss Alps, to mark the centre's 100th anniversary. This celebration will be dedicated to raising awareness about sustainable development, an issue that lies at the heart of Scouting's commitment to creating a better world.

With around 1500 young Scouts from across the globe set to participate, the event promises to be a dynamic platform for implementing education-related actions and workshops focused on sustainability. These initiatives aim to not only inspire and educate the attendees but also equip them with valuable insights to carry back to their own Scout organisations and take action in their respective communities.

Being an Earth Tribe Member and a member of the Global Goals Exhibition Hub has been an enriching experience! Not only have I been able to share my knowledge about Environment, Sustainability and the Sustainable Development Goals, but I could learn and interact with new and interesting people about these topics all day!

12 diverse workshops will be held, each aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set by the United Nations. These workshops aim to educate and inspire participants on various topics, such as understanding the SDGs and their significance for a sustainable future, sustainable practices related to the outdoor gear industry, the carbon footprint associated with food, and the role of Scouts as activists, encouraging positive community-driven change.

Through these initiatives, young Scouts will be empowered with the knowledge, skills, and inspiration needed to take meaningful action in their own communities. By fostering a culture of sustainability and activism, the event strives to create a generation of active citizens, dedicated to making positive change and building a better world.

The synergy between the Earth Tribe project and the 100th anniversary of Kandersteg International Scout Centre amplifies the impact of these workshops and reflects the collective commitment of Scouts to create a sustainable and inclusive future.

The workshops are part of the ambitious Earth Tribe project, spearheaded by the European Scout Region and supported by the European Union. This project aims to transform youth organisations into forward-looking structures that actively support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. Over a two-year timeframe, participating youth organisations receive tailor-made, region-specific capacity building through peer-to-peer learning, staff development, educational methods training, and organisational development support.
