Towards the end of 2008 the Hungarian Scout Association (HSA) launched and experimental Scout Leader Training programme, that has finally come to an end in May of 2010. The Scout Association has seen that the results from this pilot programme are encouraging and will continue to improve its facilities and re-frame its training program to achieve even greater results. The HSA states that they are extremely satisfied with the achievements of the programme's candidates.

The candidates, in this initial programme, were the first in the history of Hungarian Scouting to also participate in the Wood Badge Training course as well. The Wood Badge training was also organized by the Hungarian Scout Association. The course contained, weekend training sessions, take home work, quarter year projects and study trips which were taken to visit the Austrian Scout Association and the Hungarian Scout Association in Slovakia. At the end of this training period, these candidates received the Wood Badge beads as recognition for having successfully completed the course.
