Call for the Youth Network coordinators

The Scouts Youth Network is a modality of youth involvement that aims to interconnect and serve as a platform for permanent cooperation between young people at all levels of a National Scout Organization. It refers to the involvement of all youth members to ensure constant communication. 

The recently approved Resolution 7/2022 of the 28th Interamerican Scout Conference, "Adaptation of the Interamerican Regional Networking Policy," agreed to modify the text of the Interamerican Networks Policy about the Interamerican Youth Network with the text: "The Coordinating Core of the Network is made up of two Coordinators elected at the first meeting of the network that takes place after each Regional Conference, an executive of the World Scout Bureau - Interamerican Support Centre and a member of the Interamerican Scout Committee."

 

 

Responsibilities of the Youth Network Coordinators:  

  • Ensure constant communication among youth at the local, national, and/or regional levels.
  • Design and develop a three-year work plan aligned with the Regional Plan.
  • Encourage the participation of young people in developing projects and support the dissemination of other members' projects.
  • Establish committees or working groups to maintain constant communications with the youth of the Region.
  • Promote youth participation in activities organized by NSOs, the Region, and other entities. 
  • Promote and contribute to strengthening youth participation platforms in the Interamerican Region.
  • Collect and promote best practices of youth participation in Scouting.
  • The Youth Network Coordination must regularly report its actions to the Network.

Call for the election of Coordinators of the Interamerican Youth Network

 

During the Regional Networks Meeting scheduled to be held from May 26 to 28, 2023, the new coordinators of the Interamerican Youth Network will be elected.

 

2 Coordinators of the Interamerican Youth Network will be elected for the period between the meeting of the Network in which they were elected (scheduled for May 2023) until the first network meeting after the next Interamerican Scout Conference.  

 

The desired profile for Interamerican Youth Network Coordinators is: 

  • Is between 18 and 25 years of age on the election date. 
  • Knows networking and teamwork. 
  • Manages virtual communication platforms.
  • Has available time and commitment to participate in the Network during the established period actively.
  • Has collaborative work skills.
  • Has accessibility to a Mobile device and internet.
  • Speaks at least one of the two official languages of the Interamerican Region (English and Spanish) satisfactorily. 

 

NSOs interested in nominating a candidate to be Coordinator of the Interamerican Youth Network must send the following documentation to the World Scout Bureau - Interamerica Support Center via email interamerica@scout.org, only in digital format:  

  • Completed Nomination Form
  • Duly completed candidate's Statement of Purpose 
  • A horizontal head-to-shoulders color photo of the candidate in electronic format
  • A 3-minute video with the Statement of Purpose
  • Digital image of an identity document issued by the national authorities of their country, showing the date of birth. 

The deadline to present the documentation has been extended to 30 April, 2023  11:59 p.m, Panama time.
