Running activities in the middle of an alpine setting, experiencing an international environment and helping scouts from all over the world to have the time of their lives; that’s the kind of things you can expect on doing when you volunteer as staff at Kandersteg International Scout Centre (KISC).
KISC, founded by Baden Powell, is the World Scout Centre, with enough different nationalities together, among staff and guests, to hold its name as the “Permanent Mini-Jamboree”.
KISC is also one of the best places to learn about the Scouts of the World Award, and experience first hand what is it about.
The Scouts of the World Award encourages you to exploit your abilities to the maximum, to learn new skills, to explore yourself and use your knowledge for the good of others.
Last Spring, our staff got to know about the programme in many different ways; working together, exploring all the natural areas around the centre and living as a multicultural family. It was quite an experience, one that gives you a brother sight of the world, it differences, but most importantly, it similarities.
Now in Summer, after thousands of scouts and guides from all over the world that have visited the centre, KISC will run the very first International Scouts of the World Discovery, plus a seminar for commissioners and trainers from different countries that are developing their own Scouts of the World programmes.
The Discovery + Seminar starts today! 30th of August, and finishes on the 4th of September.
