Challenge everything! 12th National Rovers Jamboree "Watra"

26. أغسطس 2014

This year 499 participants took part in Watra, including two scout patrols from Belarus and Slovenia. 12th National Rovers Jamboree – Watra was held in Poland between 15th and 24th of August. Watra is organised each year in the end of summer holidays for rovers of The Polish Scouting and Guiding Association (ZHP) and their guests. The main programme theme of Watra was “Challenge everything!”.

In the beginning scout patrols participated in 5 day hikes – each of 9 hikes took place in another region of Poland. One of the hikes was organised as a nightly one – everything was happening by night, during another hike rovers had occasion for kayaking. Driving a quadcopter, light writing, building robots – these were attractions on another hikes. One day of hike was dedicated for local community service – scouts helped in some local celebrations, provided support in some museums or prepared bird feeders.

20th of August was a Transfer Day, when all patrols travelled to the scout centre of Małecz, where the second part of Watra took place. For the next 4 days rovers took part in multiple programme activities prepared by patrols for each other and some held by Watra guests. Scouts had occasion to learn how to start their own business, how to prepare their scout troop website, how to organise abroad camp, how to manage their time and many others like dance, survival, music, handicraft. There were also discussions about trade, economy, politics, safety etc.

Leaders had also occasion to participate in a programme dedicated to them. Activities were oriented on discussions about today's scouting in Poland, it's challenges and needed changes. There were also a leaders' conference about new methodological instruments for rovers to better support their growth in scouting.

There was also evening programme prepared. On campsite there were 4 cafes, each of them different, providing variety of activities like singing, speed dating, prestidigitation etc. Singing contest, film projections, dancing – these are another propositions of Cultural Centre. There was also a Game Room, where scouts could play board games prepared in ZHP Headquarters. Spiritual Centre provided activities for rovers interested in their faith, spiritual life etc. There was also an opportunity to donate blood – 80 scouts did it.

Watra finished at sunrise on 24th of August. Scouts returned their homes regretting that day has only 24 hours.
