The Scouts of the World Award Celebrates 10th Anniversary at 40th #ScoutConf
14. Авг 2014
The 40th World Scout Conference today celebrated the 10th Anniversary of the Scouts of the World Award, which was started in 2004 to actively contribute to the United Nations Millennium Goals Campaign.
Present at the celebration were Corinne Woods, Director of the UN Millennium Campaign, and other global partners of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) including the World Alliance of YMCAs and WAGGGS.
For the last 10 years, thousands of Scouts and non-Scouts from more than 40 countries all over the world, have been committed to think globally and act locally. For their commitment towards making their community a better place, they are recognised with the Scouts of the World Award, the only Award granted by World Scouting to young people.
From France to Bolivia, Singapore to Malaysia, the United Kingdom to Mauritius, Australia to Tunisia, Greece to Moldova, these awardees form a network which will continue with World Scouting to work towards the development of the Programme, and the realisation of its objectives for Development, Peace and the Environment!
The Scouts of the World Award will continue to contribute to the realisation of the United Nations’ Post-2015 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals. Both WOSM and the UN have started to develop concrete ideas on ways to collaborate more synergistically.
