The Scouts of the World Programme is a learning experience through which you can gain the knowledge, skills and attitudes to become a world citizen. It is a commitment to make your community a better place. Awardees then join a global network; they form a family which provides inspiration to all young people for continuous action in the fields of development, peace, and the environment.
The SW Programme is simple and flexible. Here is how it works:
1. First, you shall explore one or several global challenges of today’s world. These challenges are related to one or several of the fields for action: development, peace and/or the environment. This initial phase of exploration lasts for a few days and takes place in a SW Base. It is called the SW Discovery. At the end of the SW Discovery, you shall start drafting a project meant to tackle, in a given community, the issue(s) at stake.
2. After your SW Discovery, you shall plan and run the SW Voluntary Service you have started planning during the SW Discovery. This project usually lasts around two weeks.
3. Once your project is done, you evaluate it. If your experience fits in the criteria set for the SW Award, you get awarded! You receive the SW Award badge and the certificate as well.
4. Finally, you can join other awardees through the SW Network and contribute further to the development of the SW Programme and its causes. Congrats!
