On June 6, members of the Scout Group “Saint Sava” from Belgrade went to Obrenovac to help, acting upon the appeal of the Scout Organization of Serbia. It was agreed that they should send 5 members there to help the local Red Cross and Serbian Armed Forces in their daily activities. In Obrenovac they worked together with other associations, as well as some sports clubs.
Older members managed to find time between their shifts at work, and many younger members volunteered to go, but their leaders decided that it was best that they focused on school, since the end of the school year is near. When they arrived, they were given jobs that were appropriate for their age and stamina. Younger scouts worked with one Armed Forces Unit on cleaning up the terrain (cleaning mud and waste). Senior members were sent to the barracks where they helped with keeping record of all the people that were returning to their homes.
These scouts returned to Belgrade late in the evening, considerably tired but happy they made the day count.
