Two days after floods started, Scouts all around Serbia organized quickly and started collecting help for places which were hit worst by the floods. Collection centers were open in Scout headquarters, at town squares, in schools and also in front of larger supermarkets, where they collected all necessary things.
Action was a great success and in a short period Scout groups delivered help to affected areas.
Water was a main thing to collect because in all flooded places there was no drinking water. Next things on the list were baby food and clothes, shoes and canned food.
Also on this day centers for people who lost their homes started to open all around Belgrade. Scouts were there to help with setting up the beds and also to sort the things which would be given to affected people. Also as “SCOUT SMILES AND WHISTLES UNDER ALL CIRCUMSTANCES” they were there to be a relief for the people, especially for the kids. For them they organized some games and scout songs, something to keep their mind off the situation they are in.
On the other side another front for scouts was battle for a city of Sabac. River Sava was still growing rapidly and sand walls had to be put up and secured. Scouts from Sabac with their scout friend from other cities were working there on the bulwarks, stacking sand sack after sand sack.
Night was falling down on Sabac but intensity of their hard work was the same. They knew that every minute counts. And they have to win this battle against river Sava.
