NIGERIA - As part of the efforts of Scout Association of Nigeria of building Leadership Capacity towards the development of Scouting Strengths, no fewer than 41 Scout Leaders participated at the just concluded, 1st Assistant Leader Training Course held at the National Youth Services Camp at Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria from the 19th – 24th April 2014.
The training was facilitated by the Adult Resources & Training Department under the Leadership of Prince Adeolu Oyelami (Leader Trainer & Deputy Camp Chief).
The main focus of the training was;
• Develop more Leadership & Managerial Competencies in Scouting
• To prepare Scout Leaders for Leadership positions in Scouting and even in the Business Environments
• To reposition Scouting processes in the minds of members through "Changing the ways we represent Scouting"
In attendance at the Training were, the Chief Commissioner of Scout of Nigeria, Olori Omo-Oba Olusoga Sofolahan (Leader Trainer, Fellow Institute of Strategic Management), who happened to be the Controller of Scout Leaders Training in Nigeria, the Chief Judge of Akwa Ibom State & the President of the Akwa Ibom State Scout Council; Her Lordship Hon. (Mrs) Idongesit Isua, the Hon. Commissioner for Youth, ably represented by the Director General, Ministry of Youth, Dr. S. Umoh, the National Training Commissioner Mr. Idowu Esan (Leader Trainer & Deputy Camp Chief) and a host of visiting Instructors and National Headquarters & State Commissioners.
Several case studies were reviewed aimed at building fresh capacity of Scouting Leadership & Management Knowledge.
