The Course for Assistant Leader Trainers (CALT) recently held in Johor Bahru, Malaysia considered to be historical as Persekutuan Pengakap Malaysia (PPM) opened the course to Scout states and received an encouraging response.
Out of 17, 15 Scout states were represented by 155 Scout Leaders. The course, held from 6-12 March 2014, also attracted seven overseas Scout Leaders from Scouts of China and Maldives. With this positive response, PPM National Training Commissioner Dato' Paduka Haji Abdul Shukor bin Mohsin, said in his opening remarks, one trait of a good leader is knowing to respect other’s culture.
Other leaders present at the course were Chief State Commissioner of Johor Bahru Tuan Haji Yaacob bin Karim and Mr Syd Castillo, Director of Youth Programme of the Asia-Pacific Regional Office of the World Scout Bureau.
The course specifically targets to equip Scout leaders to be effective unit leaders.
The last CALT organized in Malaysia was in March 2010.
