#Unguvu Blog number 2!
Today started with a game for all the participants to start on the same level, followed by an introduction of the day. We then divided into groups, with each NSO coming together to look at the minority groups in their countries. We then looked at the African region as a whole and the European region as a whole. We then looked at the challenges faced and highlighted the key challenges. These included cultural and religious values, communication and reaching groups in poverty. We then had an interview with different countries to share best practice, ideas and strengths. After this we had group work and presentation looking at how Africa could support Europe, and how Europe could support Africa in relation to the challenges and strengths of each region. Finally, there was a presentation by the Chief Scout of Ethiopia about diversity and inclusion in relation to Governance. This was a very intense and informative session!
Key learning points-
• The challenges in diversity and inclusion for different NSOs are very similar across both continents.
• External perspective on diversity and inclusion- and the problems of European and African development programmes.
• The different cultures similarities and differences at the intercultural evening.
Rural areas- How would you improve Scouting in Rural areas?
