Join #EarthHour on Saturday March 29! Video Message from co-founder and former Scout Andy Ridley

At 8.30 pm on 29 March, millions of people around the world will be switching off their lights as part of Earth Hour 2014. Starting as a “lights off” campaign in Sydney in 2007, Earth Hour is today a global movement involving thousands of cities worldwide. Its primary aim is to create environmental awareness – to encourage everyone to do little things that together could bring about huge and positive changes for our environment.

Earth Hour is a World Wide Fund (WWF) initiative symbolizing the collective power of individuals, businesses, and governments to reduce their impact on this planet. See the video clip below for a message from Andy Ridley, co-founder of Earth Hour and former Scout himself, about how we as Scouts can play a major role.

Join and share your Earth Hour activities here on scout.org using the hashtag #EarthHour and keep sharing your projects and updates linked to environment protection and sustainability year round.
