Working with Czech and Polish Scouts, restoring buildings in the area of the village called Stara Voda in the Czech Republic. This community was destroyed during WWII. The village is now maintained by Scouts as a memorial to the people who used to live there.
The church that was first built in the 1600s will be maintained to show visitors the horrors of war, including bullet holes in the walls and marks from explosions. The ruins of houses surrounding the church will be maintained by cutting back the brush to allow people to visit. A walking trail will be constructed along with information bulletin boards.
Part of the project will also include informing people in Canada about what happened in Stara Voda, to make sure that no one ever forgets the horrors that war brings.
