100 years of Scouting in Uruguay

The centenary of the arrival of the proposal Scout also held in Uruguay.

Scouting in Uruguay began in 1912 with the founding of the first scout organization under the patronage of Baltasar Brum, who was then Minister of Public Instruction. To commemorate this anniversary and reaffirm the commitment to keep alive the flame of our founder, from Scouting in Uruguay, it committed to integrating all groups and institutions working in some way convey a lifestyle based on the Scout Law and Promise, calling them to devise and plan the celebration and centennial activities.
The result was memorable . Certainly, what happened on July 21 in Montevideo, capital of the country, will be marked in memory of the more than 2,600 children, youth and adults who invaded the esplanade of the city to celebrate with force this special anniversary of an utopia that, seen from outside, it would seem impossible to accomplish.

The event was supported by several national agencies that facilitated the use of the facilities of the Administration, the giant screen located in front of her IMPO and cutting our main avenue.
The environment at the municipal plaza was saw filled of shirts, scarves and flags of different colors of scouts who shared around several fires, dances, games, stories and knowing look at what they were living. On a giant screen were showed over 3000 photos of the scouts collected on shared activities.
Among all was built a giant multicolored fleur-de-lis made with plastic caps collected not only to assemble the figure, as well as an action that promotes environmental stewardship and solidarity, since they were donated to an organization helps animals that handles recycling as part of their funding.
Simultaneously, in the main room of City Hall, over 400 people, including scouts of all ages, social organizations and authorities, attended the renewal of the signing of the letter of brotherhood, where scouts associations and independent scout groups, reaffirmed their brotherhood based on their commonalities; Scout Law and Scout Promise and the same origin in Baden-Powell.
The first Scout Fellowship letter is from 2007, when the Centennial of World Scouting marked the beginning of a series of activities that promoted integration and brotherhood, which now make this reality and tomorrow, perhaps, meet the new generations dream of many: a comprehensive scouting, heterogeneous, but under the umbrella of an institution that organize and strengthen in the task of educating in values ​​and leave the world as a better place than they found it. As a difference and emphasizing the new generations, among the firms by the Scout Movement of Uruguay (WOSM member) was a delegate from the rover coordination.
The end of the ceremony in some way lived that spirit and allows us to glimpse the future closer, all present put their hands together to form a giant round, reformulated their Scout Promise and sang the song of farewell, which reads very well in one of his verses: "It's just a see you later, is only a brief goodbye, soon by the fire, we will meet."
