MESSENGERS OF PEACE NETWORK MEETING THE INTERAMERICAN REGION - CARIBBEAN SUB-REGION TRINIDAD 18 - 20 JANUARY 2O13

Twenty-one participants from 14 Scout Associations in the Caribbean attended a weekend Network meeting of Messengers of Peace.

Venue for the meeting was Trinidad with representatives from– Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Curacao, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, St. Lucia and Suriname. The purpose of the workshop was to inform the leadership of the Associations with the purpose and method of the MoP Initiative as well as establishing a network in the Caribbean. Mr. Michael Bradshaw, the Chairman of the Interamerican Scout Committee, addressed the participants at the simple opening and closing ceremonies.
The event was very successful and inspirational much to the credit of the leadership lead by . Ms. Cynthia Marquez, Director of Global Support Projects- MoP, Mr. Colm Cavanagh, member of the World Scout Foundation and Mr. Alfonso Lucado who was a good example of the involvement and capable of youth in the Movement.
All the participants are better prepared to spread MOP in their associations and get their scouts and non-scouts involved. The Messengers of Peace Workshop in Trinidad was held at the Headquarters of Scout Association of Trinidad and Tobago, which is about 5 minutes walk from the Alicia’s House where the participants stayed.
Scouts Trinidad the host association, contributed to making the event the success it was because of the care taken in preparing the venue and organizing off-sessions activities that were interesting and entertaining.
