Minyons Escoltes i Guies de Catalunya celebrate the Centenary with a special project: “Hands for Peace”

1st Aug 2007

Minyons Escoltes i Guies de Catalunya are celebrating the Centenary with a Gift for Peace they have called “Hands for Peace”. The cardboard hands, simulating the shape of a dove, were designed so that Scouts in the region could write down their hopes and messages of peace, hang them in their towns, and share this symbolic gesture with their communities.

Although the celebration took place in many Catalan cities including Vic, Lleida, Calella de la Costa and Manresa, Barcelona was the largest with more than 2,000 Scouts waving their “Hands for Peace” high in the air and walking through the streets.

The idea is that these hands will be displayed for Scouting's Sunrise on 1 August 2007, as where ever the Scouts may be on that day, they can show their messages of peace.
