Scouts from around the world set up for first day of WYC 2010 Mexico

August 22, 2010 - Sunday kicked off the setting up process and beginning of the World Youth Conference 2010 Mexico in Leon, Guanajuato. A group of approximately 40 scouts from all over the world gathered in Poliforum Leon Sunday morning and put their scouting skills to the test by building up constructions and setting up the Scout Activity Center proving that when scouts come together they form an empowering social force.

It took wooden logs, rope, few nails, scout teamwork and a couple of hours in order to build a 6 meter tall gate for the entrance and a 4 meter tall tower that overlooked the Scout center. Completed, the Scout center consists of three main areas Scouts of the World discovery area, a “campfire” dialogues area, and an audio-visual area. Each area reinforcing the Scouts of the World three main themes Environment, Peace, and Development and our mission as the WOSM, a movement where youth can come together through scouting and take a constructive role in society.

All of the constructions, scouts areas, and programmed activities will be on exhibition until the ending of the World Youth Conference on Friday, August 27, 2010.
