Niger, floods leave 39000 homeless: Scouts extend a helping hand to victims
NIAMEY – In the wake of the destruction of the town of Agadez by floods, 40 Scouts left Niamey, destination: Agadez, with a mission of helping the floods victims. Their response was swift and generous.
Upon arrival, they put up several tents for the disaster victims who no longer have a shelter.
Scouts also offered moral support to the victims and attempted to put a smile on the faces of dispirited children by way of entertainment. To arrive on the spot, Scouts trekked for two days (900 km in the north of Niger).
The situation is very tragic.
14 neighbourhoods, 7000 households or 39000 people were affected. 3 people are also reported dead.
The Minister for youth and sports has thanked Scouts of Niger for their continued constructive role in society, which has always been recognized as important. During tragic moments, the Scouts of Niger have always done their best to help other people.
