Mr Shantillall Dhanjee passed away at the age of 93. He is the founder of the first local Hindu Scout Troop in 1946. He was the first Mauritian to be appointed as Chief Scout of the Mauritius Scout Association (MSA) in 1978 and remained in office for 20 years. Shantillall Dhanjee led a very active life in Mauritian society by being a high calibre educationist, owner and director of the Dhanjee College.

In Togo, the last quarter of the year 2007 was marked by strong floods in the savannah, plateaus and coastal areas. Heavy rainfalls in the said areas and in the Lomé Commune, have produced a sudden rise in the levels of the rivers Haho and Zio, thereby resulting in floods. The immediate consequences of this situation are: flooding of fields and houses, destruction and/or flooding of roads

From 15 to 25 August 2008, four African Rover Scouts participated in the 11th International Youth Gathering for Cultural Exchange that was held in Yemen. They were from Angola, Mozambique and Ethiopia (2). The Regional Office was represented by Euloge Ishimwe, the Communications Manager. The Youth Gathering was held concurrently with the 17th Arab Scout Moot, in Sana'a the capital city of Yemen.

Growth of Scouting, to reach as many young people as possible in Africa (More than 60% of Africa's population) will depend on how well we sustain our good image in order to retain and attract more young people.
