Association des Guides et Scouts de Monaco becomes a Full Member of World Scouting

25. fév 2014

The World Organization of the Scout Movement is happy to announce that the “Association des Guides et Scouts de Monaco” is a full member of WOSM since 16 February 2014, after being an Accredited National Scout Organization since 1990.

The “Association des Scouts de Monaco” was founded in 1918 and joined WOSM in 1990, when it was recognized by the World Scout Committee as an Accredited National Scout Association, due to their small number of members. The Scouts then merged with the Guides and in 1992 became the “Association des Guides et Scouts de Monaco”.

Apart from the Vatican city, Monaco, a constitutional monarchy, is the second smallest independent state in the world as regards land mass (2 sq km) and a population of 37,000. Youth population between 6 to 25 years old is estimated around 4,000. The membership of the “Association des Guides et Scouts de Monaco” has increased over the past years and now totals 372 (55 Cubs, 65 Scouts, 54 Venturers, 71 Rovers and 127 Adult Volunteers and Leaders).
