New York – The annual UN General Assembly is always a good forum to promote the active citizenship of young people, and in recent years, governments have been increasing their efforts to support youth participation.

Le défi de cette année de la campagne "Debout contre la pauvreté et manifestez!" se tiendra les 16 et 17 octobre. L'Action mondiale contre la pauvreté (GCAP) a planifié un certain nombre d'actions et la Campagne du Millénaire de l'ONU a prévu de maintenir son dynamisme et sa pression sur les pays riches et pauvres, afin qu'ils honorent leurs engagements qu'ils ont pris afin d'éradiquer la pauvreté et d'atteindre et de dépasser les Objectifs du Millénaire pour le Développement (OMD).

La Journée Internationale de la Paix est l'opportunité de réfléchir à la manière dont nous pouvons contribuer à créer un monde plus pacifique.

En tant que Scouts, nous avons un devoir envers autrui et nous promettons d'être loyaux envers notre pays dans la perspective de la promotion de la paix, de la compréhension et de la coopération sur le plan local, national et international, ainsi que de participer au développement de la société dans le respect de la dignité de l'homme. Nous promettons de suivre la loi scoute, qui affirme que le scout est un ami pour tous et un frère (une soeur) pour tous les autres Scouts. Ce sont ces valeurs fondamentales qui font de notre mouvement le mouvement de Paix qu'il est aujourd'hui.

Les Scouts du monde entier sont invités à célébrer la Journée Internationale de la Paix, le 21 septembre. Cette journée a été établie par les Nations Unies (ONU) en 1981 pour commémorer et renforcer les idéaux de la paix.

A travers le monde, des millions de Scouts oeuvrent pour la Paix. A travers des projets Dons pour la Paix, ils sont actifs au sein de leur communauté et parlent en faveur de la paix, en partageant leurs pensées et leurs souhaits à travers des messages pour la paix multi-médias.

Scouts from many countries joined other young environmental leaders of the world at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) International Youth Conference in Leverkusen, Germany from the 27th to 30th August. The participants had the opportunity to share their projects with 150 young people aged between 15 - 24 from 100 countries, showcasing a great variety of projects being lead by young people to tackle the world's environmental challenges.

The e-learning resource on 'Keeping Scouts Safe From Harm' which was developed for Adults and the International Service Team (IST) of the recently concluded World Scout Jamboree in the UK, is now available online for global use. Inspired from the E-learning resources on Child Protection, created by NSOs, the tool, which is available in English and French, has been designed to develop worldwide awareness on the important subject.

Le Rassemblement International d'Amahoro Amani été un événement historique qui sera longtemps gravé dans la mémoire de ses nombreux participants. 550 jeunes venus d’Afrique et d’Europe ont pu partager les expériences des Médiateurs Communautaires et célébrer ensemble le Centenaire du mouvement Scout. Des participants de 11 pays (Burundi, Rwanda, RD Congo, Kenya, Ouganda, Danemark, Allemagne, France, Italie, Belgique, Finlande) se sont rencontrés sur la colline de Bungere (qui veut dire le berger en Kirundi, langue du Burundi), au cœur du Burundi… et de l’Afrique !

The International Forum for Peace represents the final phase of the “Amahoro Amani” project, and it aims at strengthening the exchange of experiences between young people, on a broader level, regional and international one. It comes within the framework of the two-year project who's main purpose is to foster a movement of rejection of ethnic prejudices among young people and getting them to contribute concretely to social change for a lasting peace advent in the Great Lakes region (Burundi, Rwanda, The Democratic Republic of The Congo). Amahoro is also a project that aims at developing the “international solidarity” dimension among the young people from the South and their peers from industrialised countries.
