The European Scout Conference ended at the weekend in the beautiful setting of Portoroz, Slovenia.
A new committee was elected for the term 2007 till 2010.
The new Chairman of the European Scout Committee is Craig Turpie from the United Kingdom. The Vice-Chairman is Marios Christou from Cyprus.
The other members of the committee are Joao Armando Gonçalves P. from Portugal, Zorica Skakun from Serbia, Henrik Soderman from Finland and Paolo Fiora from Italy.
The conference strongly debated the proposed new regional plan and worked to reduce the number of priorities while increasing the quality of what would be provided.
As well as the Chairman’s report, the Treasurer’s report and updates from the World level, major presentations on the Long Term Growth Project, External Relations and the Centenary of Scouting and given.
Resolutions of thanks, on solidarity and the educational proposal of Scouting were passed.
The thanks to both Slovenian host organisations – ZTS and ZSKSS – in providing an excellent conference provided a fitting end to 5 very productive days.
