30 September, Laguna -- With Scouting spirit and strong commitment of staff and participants, the third series of the Advanced Unit Leaders Training Course for Vietnamese Scout Leaders continued amidst the strong typhoon that battered several places in the country including the course venue Mt. Makiling. The course is on going from 27th September to 3rd October.
Celebrating Clean Up the World Weekend which mobilises Scouts every year worldwide to join millions of people to take a positive action to conserve and protect the environment, Scouts from Malate Troops under the Asia-Pacific Region Ticket To Life Project in the Philippines, joined thousands of environment advocates trooped in the coastline of Las Piñas-Parañaque for the 26th International Coastal Clean-up Day on 17 September 2011.
18 September, Tokyo – Two seasoned resource persons in the Asia-Pacific Region conducted an extensive orientation on World Adults In Scouting Policy (WASP) and on selected elements of the Life Cycle of an Adult. The special orientation, organized by the Scout Association of Japan (SAJ), was led by Dr. Mak-Wai Ming, Chairman of the APR Adult Support Sub-Committee and Assistant Professor of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, together with Mr Paul Parkinson, National Training Commissioner, Principal of the National Institute of Education and Training of Australia and Vice Chairman of the APR Adult Support Sub-Committee.
14 September, Tokyo -- Ten National Scout Organizations with 25 participants are gathered at the National Olympics Memorial Youth Centre for a four-day regional workshop on Effective National Adult Resources Committee and National Training System. The workshop aims to provide an understanding on the importance of the revised World Policy on Adults in Scouting (AIS), strengthen Adult Support for effective implementation of adult training and serves as a platform for adult leaders from different NSOs to exchange ideas and share their experiences.
The Sri Lanka Scouts Association organized the 1st Scout Integration Camp on 18th to 21st August 2011 at the Scout Training & Development Centre, in Pallekette, Kandy, an ideal camping site for its lush and green countryside.
The 24th APR Scout Conference Organization Committee (COC) held its 3rd Preparatory Meeting at the Bangladesh National Headquarters in Dhaka on 10th September. The COC Chairman and Vice President of Bangladesh Scouts welcomed all members including the newly elected President of the Bangladesh Scout Council Md. Abdul Karim and International Commissioner Md. Mozammal Haque.
The Woodhouse Scout Centre in Adelaide gathered representatives from 11 National Scout Organizations including Bangladesh, Fiji, Hong Kong, India, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Singapore and Sri Lanka with the special participation of Timor Leste, for the second regional forum on Programme and Training Commissioners.
A team of dedicated volunteers and professionals has begun their three-day Asia-Pacific Regional Management Meeting from 25th to 27th August 2011 in Makati City, Philippines. The management meeting is a regular annual event held at the regional office to review the region's last year performance and challenges and how it should strategize to work firmly on its priorities for the coming year.
Indonesian President H.E. Dr. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono conferred the Melati Award to World Scout Committee (WSC) Chairperson Simon Rhee during Gerakan Pramuka's (GP) 50th anniversary at the Cibubur Scout Complex in Jakarta on 14th August 2011. Other recipients of the same award were National Police Chief General Timur Pradopo and some Indonesia's provincial governors.
