Kenya Scout Association Contributes to the Famine relief Efforts in Kenya
Kenya Scout Association has made a donation of food towards the famine relief efforts in the country. The donation was handed over to the Minister for Special Programmes on 18th January 2006, at a ceremony held outside Baden Powell House in Nairobi, Kenya.
On receiving the donation, the Minister thanked the Scout Association for their efforts. The Government of Kenya has declared the famine in the country a national disaster and called for more well wishers to make contributions towards the relief. By 18th January, it was reported that the number of people in need of relief food had risen to 3.5 million from 2.6 million.
The donation also included a contribution of food and clothes from the World Scout Bureau, Africa Regional Office in Nairobi.
